Idea’s for Days out.

We attach some idea’s for Days out, should you run out of idea’s then discuss with the residents for suggestions.

Here are some places we think are worth a visit.

Shopping.

There are many Supermarkets, which can be found locally in Las Fuentes.

At Caetellon there are a large number of good shops at the Aveda Europa with shops such as Alcampo and Pryca also a fairly large shopping centre, this is near to  Castellon sur, on the N340 not far from the Mcdonalds sign also Mercadona in Benicarlo and Vinaros and also Carrefore in Vinaros really worth a visit

(Remember if you pay by credit card you may just need your passport)

Some shops still have a Siesta between 14.00hrs and 16.00hrs.

Benecasim.

Liqueurs are made at a Monastery run by Monks.  You can have a guided tour, which finishes up with a wine tasting session.

Lots of good Restaurants along the Beach

A day out at the Aqua Park is very good fun.

Beware of the Sun do take lots of SunTan Oil.

Oropesa.

Visit "Marina-dor" just before Oropesa, in the summer season there is entertainment in the garden, it has lots of upmarket restaurants. There is also a  Mercadona Supermarket, you will also find Go - Karts on the Main Road.

Artisania Stalls. - on the Main Road towards Torreblanca. (The Pot Shop)

These have many locally made crafts, which are good for presents.

The plates in the Villa come from here.

Peniscola.

This is a walled city, which is very pretty.

Go here and park your car and take in the local atmosphere, most Restaurants do a “Menu del Dia” The harbour is renowned for its fresh Shellfish and Seafood.

The city is where the Film “El Cid” was filmed.

Evening Craft Market most evenings behind the Castle also lots of small cafe’s offering the Menu of the Day. (Approx. €9 - €30)

Vinaros.

Small but interesting Seaside town with a very good Market and plenty of Local Cafes and Bars, Indoor Market which is good for fruit and veg and some Meat Stalls. Plus the “Mercadona” Supermarket. A Large French SuperMarket “Carrefore”

A new attraction is a Golf Course Panoramica, which costs around £25 per person per day, full details of this in the Villa.

There is a drop in centre near the port "El Portico" which is run by the local Anglican Church Community, this is a great place for a coffee and swap books after the Thursday Market. The "El Barco" Restaurant also near the Port is a great good for lunch.

Benicarlo.

Well worth a visit on Market Day.

Also there is a new shopping Mall “The Costa Azahar shopping Mall” with Bowling Alley and lots of good quality shops  selling shoes bags etc etc, quite a number of quite upmarket café’s and a new Supermarket,  even a Burger King.

You should try the Mercadona Super Market, if you like Fish, the selection is vast, also Lidl.

Wednesday.     - Peniscola. (Fish)    Thursday.     - Vinaros.

Transport Cafe’s

These are not like British Transport Cafe’s. Give them a try and you will be very surprised. Try Torres at Torreblanca or Piero's you will have a 4 course meal including wine for around €10, these are on the N340.

Bars.

Lots of Local Spanish Bars to choose from. If you crave for an English Bar then “Cheers” (British Pub) on the Harbour is for you. Bar “Flamingo” we are told has music most nights and a Classical Guitar Evening on Friday’s we have even a Bowling Green this can be found signposted near the Garden Centre by the Railway bridge on the outskirts of Alcossebre.

Disco’s.

These are only for late birds. Normally they Start at Midnight and go on till late, a selection can be found in Las Fuentes. Normally the entry charge includes a few drinks and entertainment, however please check with the locals before you go.

The entry prices have changed but it was Adult approx €27  Parking Extra. A really good day out with lots of Family Fun. Do be careful as with all outside events, the sun is very strong and we recommend that you keep in the shade as much as possible. Lots of good shows, reasonably priced food, good value for money.
